Ring Making Workshop

What we will do....

You will join me in my workshop in the heart of Old Bruges and learn to handmake your own sterling silver ring. During our time you will have hands on experience of forging, shaping and finishing your own silver ring. Firstly you will choose which finger you would like the ring for, measure your silver and cut to size using a handsaw. You will now have the chance to add your own unique stamp marks onto the inside of the ring, it could be a name, date or even your favourite beer! Next you will learn how to hammer the silver into a ring shape using rawhide mallets and a triblet. I will then solder your ring together while explaining the process of heating and joining the silver. Your next step will be to learn how to file and shape your ring; this is where you will start to create your own unique design by choosing the shape and feel of your silver ring. I will then show you how to add textures and markings to your ring. This is your unique ring and your time to really show your creative side! The last step will be to choose the finish and polish; this could be highly polished to add some sparkle, a satin finish or even a rough forged look to your ring. Finally you will have your own silver ring to keep, handmade by you using only hand tools in the heart of Bruges, a fabulous and unique way to remember your trip to our magical city. Good to know.... - Workshop Duration : 2.5 - 3 hours - Includes: sterling silver, hot/cold drinks and snacks - Prepayment is required to secure your workshop place. - Gold options are available for your rings in solid 14kt or 18kt gold- however this is subject to metal availability and will incur an additional fee. Please contact me prior to booking a workshop for additional pricing if you would like to work with gold. - Ring making workshops are available every week on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. My workshop schedule can change throughout the year depending on my work load and the season.
